From Keto to Carbs: How Anita found the foods that work for her

Hi, I'm Anita!
I found out about ZOE through a health podcast and what excited me the most about it were the various health metrics ZOE gathers to help assess my individualized metabolic response. I suffer from an inflammation issue and I have previously tried several things to get to the bottom of it.
I had exhausted traditional medicine and had been on an elimination diet to try to find the root cause without success. During my time on elimination diets, I was eating the cleanest I have ever eaten, and yet I was the heaviest I had ever been. It was incredibly frustrating and confusing!

When the ZOE kit arrived it was a very detailed process, I completed the tests and sent everything back. When I received my results I was blown away!
My results led me to understand why I had gained weight when I was eating so clean before. The elimination diets I was on were very keto-centric and my results showed me that my body responds better to carbs than it does fat.
Those diets were high in fats such as butter, coconut milk, and eggs which were not right for me according to my ZOE results.
I also found ZOE a great tool for understanding nutrients more clearly. Using the app to scan foods over and over taught me more about macronutrients than any other book or diet ever did. I picked up on patterns in my diet and meals, and I can now better predict how my biology reacts to certain foods. It has been a learning process as much as a discovery for me.

The ZOE Program
The ZOE program was very easy to follow because everything is in the app. You can clearly see what foods are good, bad, or fair (for your particular metabolism), and you can scan labels or search for foods easily.
Every time I scanned or searched for food, the app would show me how my body would process that food, it took all of the guesswork out of shopping and eating for my body.
Through the ZOE program, I discovered a new high protein wrap that I now swap for traditional wheat ones. It has also given me clarity on foods I have avoided in the past because of conflicting advice, such as peanuts and beans.
I now know how my body actually responds to these two foods and can include them in my diet with confidence. It is so comforting to see a definitive score for my body, vs. listening to generalizations about foods.
By the end of the ZOE program, I weighed the lowest I had in years. Once I came off the plan I did gain a little bit of weight back, but not all of it! ZOE helped me understand how to eat for my body, and why the methods I had used in the past did not work for me.
