My team and I lead PREDICT the world’s largest in-depth nutritional research program in collaboration with scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital, King’s College London, Stanford Medicine, & Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

We've seen a ten-fold difference in the way people respond to food, demonstrating the need for a personalized approach to gut health. Certain foods are linked to “good” or “bad” bacteria which can help or hinder your ability to metabolize fats and sugar. The ZOE Program can show you how to eat the right foods to balance these bacteria may improve your body's response to food – reducing harmful dietary inflammation.

Ask the experts

I have a health condition. Is that ok?

We do not diagnose, prevent, or treat any diseases (including metabolic or inflammatory conditions). If you have any underlying health conditions you should consult your treating physician before joining the program.

We do factor some conditions into our advice including many common medications for diabetes and heart disease (e.g. statins).

Unfortunately, if you have a gut disease (e.g. Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or celiac disease) then you are not eligible for the program.

If you have a sensitive gut (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome) then you may join the program. However, you should understand that our advice is for general wellness and is not specifically formulated for your condition. Some diet changes we recommend such as increasing fiber and diversifying your plant intake have been shown to trigger adverse responses in some people with a sensitive gut. While we give advice to improve gut health and reduce dietary inflammation which is suitable for most people – following our advice may make your condition worse. We are actively researching how we might be able to adjust our advice specifically for people living with irritable bowel syndrome.

When will my test kit arrive?

Your test kit will ship in 5-7 days and you can track it online.

When will I get results?

To get your results you need to complete your tests at home and return your samples in the package provided. From there it takes about 6-8 weeks for our labs to process your samples. You will then receive an email as soon as your insights reports are ready to view.

Am I eligible for a blood sugar sensor?

To get a free blood sugar sensor with your test kit you must consent to our study. To be eligible for the study you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are at least 18 years of age (or at least 19 years of age if you live in Alabama or Nebraska).
  • You live in the continental United States, but not in New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island due to state regulations.
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) of at least 16.5 kg/m2.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You have not had a heart attack (myocardial infarction), stroke/transient ischemic attack, or major surgery in the last two months.
  • You can safely eat our test meals. What do test meals contain?
  • Gluten-free flour
  • Baking powder
  • Egg whites
  • Sugar
  • Corn flour
  • Sunflower oil
  • Vanilla extract
  • Liquid egg whites
  • Common preservatives to maintain freshness
  • If you are being treated for chronic medical conditions (such as eating disorders, type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes), you have checked with your treating physician that this product is safe for you.
When will ZOE be available in my area?

The ZOE program is only available to people living in the continental United States. However, it is not currently available to people living in New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island due to regulations in those states.

We hope to expand the program to serve other regions globally as soon as possible.

Is it worth the cost?

The ZOE program use the most advanced biological tests you can get which are used in professional science labs. This improves the accuracy and depth of data we can share with you.

The program is also the first of its kind to combine microbiome analysis, blood testing, food logging and continuous blood sugar monitoring.

Not only does it provide this 360° metabolic analysis but we are also able to deliver it to you remotely, within the comfort of your own home.

What the science says

Gut

Science

How does the gut influence
dietary inflammation & metabolism?

From our research, we can see that the food you eat influences the bacteria in your microbiome. We also see that certain foods are linked to “good” or “bad” bacteria which can help or hinder your ability to metabolize fats and sugar. Eating the right foods to balance these bacteria may improve your body's response to food – reducing harmful dietary inflammation.

Inflammation

Science

What is dietary inflammation?

We use the term "dietary inflammation" to capture the unhealthy effects that can be caused by what we eat. Excessive blood sugar and fat spikes can overwhelm your body's normal, healthy responses. This can trigger a variety of harmful responses, from blood sugar crashes and hunger to the immune system triggering inflammation.

Repeated often enough these can lead to weight gain and chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Our studies suggest "good" gut microbes can provide a protective effect, reducing these negative responses and supporting lower levels of body fat.
